Surface Modification Technology

Reshaping Surface Performance

Surface modification technology is a “magic wand” for upgrading part performance. Carburizing/nitriding uses high temperature to let carbon and nitrogen atoms penetrate, building a wear – resistant and compression – resistant hard shell for gears and bearings. Quenching stimulates the hardness and wear – resistance potential of iron and steel parts through rapid cooling, empowering cutters and molds with strong capabilities. Laser surface treatment, like a precise scalpel, customizes exclusive performance for high – end parts. From basic strengthening to precise customization, it reshapes surface layer performance and drives parts to evolve towards greater durability and efficiency.

Carburizing / Nitriding

By virtue of high temperature, carbon and nitrogen atoms “penetrate” into the metal surface layer, creating a “hard surface layer” for stressed parts such as gears and bearings, enhancing wear resistance and compression resistance, and making parts more “durable”.

Quenching

“Rapid cooling” is carried out on the surface layer of iron and steel parts to stimulate the improvement of hardness and wear resistance. For parts such as cutters and molds that pursue “strong strength”, quenching is a key step to enhance performance.

Laser Surface Treatment

Using laser as a “scalpel”, the microstructure of the surface layer of parts is precisely changed. Hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance are improved as needed, customizing “exclusive performance” for high – end parts.

Surface Finish Options For CNC Turned Parts

HTsin provides a diverse array of surface finish options to enhance the surface qualities of CNC – turned parts. The surface finishes applied post – machining can alter the appearance, surface roughness, hardness, and chemical resistance of the manufactured parts.

As machined

The machined aluminum parts are left with visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request.

Bead Blasted

Give the machined parts a smooth and uniform matte surface finish, thereby removing tool marks.

Polishing

Creating a smooth and shiny surface by manually polishing in multiple directions or by applying a chemical polish treatment.

Anodizing

Type II (Anodizing color or clear) or Type III (Anodizing hard coat) Anodizing does not cover tool marks unless bead blasted beforehand.

Chromate Conversion Coating

Increase the part’s corrosion resistance while retaining its conductivity. RoHS compliant.

Decorative Chrome Plating

Enhance aesthetics and durability of the cnc aluminum components.

Powder Coat

Applying powdered paint to the components and then baking it in an oven, which results in a stronger, more wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than traditional painting methods.

Surface Finishes For CNC Machined Parts

Our offers a wide selection of surface finishes to improve the surface qualities of CNC-machined parts. The surface finishes applied after machining can change the appearance, surface roughness, hardness, and chemical resistance of the produced parts.

As machined (Ra 3.2μm / Ra 126μin)

This finishing option with the shortest turnaround time. Parts have visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request.

Smooth machining (Ra 1.6μm / Ra 63μin)

Polishing (Ra 0.8μm / Ra 32μin or better)

Polishing is the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface by rubbing it or by applying a chemical treatment.

Bead Blasting

Machined parts are bead blasted with glass beads which results in a uniform grainy texture and reduced machining marks.

Vibratory finishing

A process that removes burrs, sharp edges, and machining marks from workpieces by tumbling them with vibrating media.

Bead blasted + Anodizing type II

The parts are bead blasted to #120 grit before being anodized type II—ideal for increasing the aluminum part’s corrosion resistance and cosmetic effects. 

Bead blasted + Anodized type III (Hardcoat)

The parts are bead blasted to #120 grit before being anodized type III. Type III (Hard Coat) is thicker and adds a wear-resistant layer to Type II’s corrosion resistance, suitable for functional applications.

Black Oxide

Black oxide is a conversion coating that is used on steels to improve corrosion resistance and minimize light reflection.

Powder Coated

This is a finish of applying powdered paint to the components and then baking it in an oven, which results in a stronger, more wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than traditional painting methods. 

Chromate Conversion Coating

Chromate conversion coating is used to improve the corrosion resistance of aluminum and aluminum alloys while keeping their conductive properties. It is also applied as a base layer prior to priming and painting parts.

Plating

Include Nickel Plating, Silver Plating, Gold Plating, Zinc Plating, Chrome Plating, Tin Plating and etc, it is ideal to reduce corrosion, improve the appearance and function of solderability and electrical conductivity.

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) Coating

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating is a hard, wear-resistant coating made of a carbon-rich material that exhibits some of the properties of diamonds.

    POM (Delrin/Acetal)

    POM (Delrin/Acetal) is an easy-to-machine thermoplastic with high stiffness and excellent moisture resistance. Its low friction and high wear-resistance make it ideal for durable, precision mechanical parts.

    PMMA(Acrylic)

    PMMA: PMMA is commonly known by the trade name “acrylic” or “plexiglass”. It is a lightweight and shatter-resistant material that is often used as a glass substitute in applications such as skylights, displays, signage, and lenses

    PEEK
